Hello Lenovo EDU Community!

We're pleased to announce that we've teamed up with the charity 'Safe In Our World' to raise awareness for their great cause - as well as bring you great new content over the coming weeks/months!

Safe In Our World is a UK-registered worldwide charity whose aim is to support and improve mental health within the video games industry - from players to developers, publishers, retailers and beyond!

You can check out more about their background below:

"Back in 2017, a group of video game industry people started a conversation about fundraising for mental health charities. Like every project in the gaming industry, this grew and expanded (plus took forever), but in 2019 the charity Safe In Our World was born. Our mission is to foster positive mental health and wellbeing, and deliver support not only for players but also developers, publishers, retailers and all the other incredible folk who make up the video games industry. Our goal is for the industry to come together and start a conversation that can change lives. We are committed to making a difference. It will take time for change to happen and for cultures to change, but the fact you’re here reading this — not to mention the incredible people we have on board, listed below — is truly incredible. Safe In Our World is a default destination for gamers and developers grappling with mental health issues to ask for helpaccess information, and read about real people in the gaming space who have had their own struggles — and how they have dealt with them. You’re never alone, and it’s okay to not be okay all the time!"

The team at Safe In Our World have built their charity on providing the following seven key pillars of support:

  • A global hub of life-saving resources, information and support for anyone to access at safeinourworld.org

  • A free Level Up Mental Health Initiative designed to empower companies within the games industry to implement wellbeing strategies and mental health policies in their workplace to support their teams and their talent

  • Games industry bespoke training opportunities to supplement mental health efforts within communities and companies (including free training)

  • Regular themed content to open up the conversation around mental health and eliminate the stigma through the power of discussion

  • Consultation and support to game developers with clinical expertise to accurately portray mental health within their game design and content

  • Deliver talks, host panels and facilitate conversations with companies and communities, inviting mental health discussion, education and self-care.

  • Provide a safe and inclusive community to navigate our mental health with peer support with a focus on gaming
