So with Halloween just around the corner, I imagine a lot of us are spooking up our decorations👻 🎃 ! I dunno about you but I always see the same store bought ones everywhere - and besides, animatronics are so expensive on my budget 😭 So I've been thinking about making some basic animatronic props from scratch! I'm an artist, so I'm not worried about the creative side, but I have zero experience when it comes to electronics and engineering, and this seems like a good excuse to learn! I've tried looking at guides online, but the ones I've see seem to assume some basic knowledge of servos and soldering and the like. Any tips, recommendations for cheap beginners kits or tutorials/videos, or just advice on where to start?
Has anyone here tried making their own animatronic Halloween decorations? I'm especially interested in hearing from others who might have tackled similar projects to get their unique halloween on a student's shoestring budget.
(Also, have any teachers here tried it as a lesson for engaging students in STEM from a fun perspective like Halloween? How'd that go?)
