Global Volunteer Month is celebrated every year in April. In the U.S., we celebrate National Volunteer Week in addition to Global Volunteer Month. National Volunteer Week took place this year from April 20th through April 26th. The purpose of Global Volunteer Month and National Volunteer Week is to recognize the contributions of volunteers to their communities and to encourage more people to volunteer.

When I was younger, I used to volunteer at an animal shelter. I got to feed and entertain cats. It was a great experience. I haven't volunteered anywhere recently, but I would like to get back to volunteering. Ideally, I would like to do something that benefits the environment, like planting trees or cleaning up shorelines.
