I'm impressed by the option on my Ideapad that allows me to limit the percentage of battery charge. I don't know of other laptops that offer this. And as my previous laptops all suffered from poor battery life I really applaud this feature.
As I recently bought an electric car I'm aware of much discussion around how much charge a car should be allowed to have. Indeed all manufacturers limit the charge - typically to somewhere around 90% of the true battery capacity. So when a car says 100% full it really means 90% full. And there's protection at the bottom end too so it never really gets to be empty. So I'm intrigued that the Lenovo battery saver option limits the charge to 60%. I can only assume it's down to a difference in the lithium battery technology employed by each. If anyone has technical knowledge to share on this it would be interesting.
Also I think it would be a good idea for the Lenovo battery saver software to offer a number of settings. So when I take my laptop away somewhere, off grid, I can decide for my self how much charge I'm going to need. Choosing between 100% and 60% seems a bit crude.
