Intel and AMD have just changed the nomenclature for their consumer CPU products—again. How do we compare a particular model to their competitor's model(s), when we can't easily compare this generation to the previous generation(s)—within a single brand?

It's frustrating. I know. I wish I could give you a simple answer. But, I cannot. And I don't have time to write an essay on all of the details, right now. To do it well, requires research.

Otherwise, I recommend you start watching tech channels on YouTube. They can be very good. And some are very honest. But, they are not perfect. Don't treat what you learn as gospel. They make mistakes. But... watch everything as they release it (or soon after), in the order of release. You never know where you'll find a pearl of wisdom. And you never know when they'll reveal that they're (actually) full of excrement. Examples:

Although Level1Techs provides a more thorough education, Wendell has a tendency to misspeak—without any corrections. To avoid becoming \"accidentally misinformed\", his audience must have a good understanding of the topic—before watching and listening.
Linus Tech Tips (and their sister channels: ShortCircuit, TechQuickie, etc.) covers topics more broadly—and they do laptop reviews. But... they seldom review Lenovo laptops. Linus (Media Group) seems to have a very low opinion of Lenovo. But, that's ok. After years of viewing, when Linus says, \"It's decent,\" or \"They're solid,\"—I take that as high praise from Linus. Given his reluctance to say anything nice about Lenovo's devices.
For Lenovo reviews, I like Dave2D and Just Josh. Occasionally, UFD Tech does a review—but, not often as in the past. Although I think they're fair to Lenovo, I also see indications that they are reluctant to say anything bad—about any device they review. Regardless of the manufacturer.
A common thread → contradictory information, between what's on screen and what's being said. Sometimes, corrections flash on screen. You can't just listen while you study (or work). You'll end up missing important information. smh

You should take reviews with a grain of salt. Often, they are sponsored by the manufacturer. In print media, they've all but become advertisements disguised as articles¹.

Becoming a tech-savvy individual—just in general—and staying current on tech news; that is the only durable solution to the confusion you're experiencing. ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

(1) Is it considered false advertising if false claims only appear in articles? Even if those articles are obviously reporting on a press release? We'll see.
